In 1990, the famous watch making company “Swatch” helped to create a public frenzy for chronograph watches. The chronograph was invented by a Frenchman, called Rieussec, in 1821. The number of dials on a chronograph watch varies depending on the design.

Towards the beginning of the century, many Swiss chronograph watches were used by the military and sports people. This was because watches swiss were renowned for their accurate timekeeping and durability – and they still are.

Today, the wearing of a chronograph watch is more of a fashion statement than a professional practicality. The appeal of the Swiss mechanical watch seems to be its exciting, sporting image.

Chronographs are timepieces or watches that have both timekeeping and stopwatch functions available. There are many different types of chronographs available, many of them offered on watch dealer websites.

Typically with analog chronographs the central watch hand will be used for the stopwatch functions of the timepiece. Digital chronographs feature a digital display for both their timekeeping and stopwatch functions. An analog-digital chronograph is a bit of an amalgam of the other two different available chronographs. The digital display area will typically operate independently of the chronograph’s analog section.

Many watch manufacturers offer their chronograph watches for men in order to offer advances, varied, reliable and high quality chronograph watches for men. Chronograph wristwatches have been designed watches for women are often functional and stylized.
